Music is our battlefield. Formed in 2017 in Mindanao, Ground Zero is an 8-member powerhouse (performing as 7) known for igniting every stage with an explosive blend of progressive rock, pop, reggae, and alternative rock. What began as a spontaneous entry into a local battle of the bands quickly turned into a relentless pursuit of musical excellence. One day of practice was all it took to win their first championship—and over 100 competitions later, they now hold a record of 70 championship titles, 32 runner-up finishes, and countless minor awards.
Ground Zero isn’t just a band that plays music—they perform it. With fierce energy and competitive fire, they treat every stage like a grand finals showdown. Their ability to dominate any genre comes from their background in contests, where versatility isn’t a bonus—it’s a requirement. Though known for their prog rock roots, they’ve mastered multiple genres to meet the ever-evolving demands of competitions and diverse crowds.
The band is composed of •Judy Benitez – Lead Vocalist (TNT Season 7 Grand Finalist, All-Star Grand Resbak 2025, Team ALAB) •Brenny Tinamisan – Vocalist (Tawag ng Tanghalan Daily Winner) •Jeff Cuyugan – Lead Guitar 1 (viral guitarist noticed by December Avenue) •Rusty Quilas – Lead Guitar 2 •Taz Tagle – Keyboardist •Vexer Hizon – Bassist •Kerr Erlina – Drummer, Band Leader •Jade Pacudan – Second Drummer/Understudy
Their musical DNA is influenced by Dream Theater, Avenged Sevenfold, Polyphia, and powerhouse vocalists like Demi Lovato and Jessie J—reflected in their intense technicality and vocal delivery.
Ground Zero’s reach extends far beyond their hometown. They’ve performed across Mindanao. From Glan Sarangani to Siargao, Zamboanga to Agusan gracing local fiestas, festivals, front-acts for legendary bands like Siakol, True Faith, Sponge Cola, and Rocksteddy. Their viral performances on Facebook and TikTok have racked up thousands of shares and comments, inspiring messages like: “Grabe, napanood ko to in person—sobrang goosebumps.” “Sumasali na kami sa mga battle dahil sa inyo.” “Sana makakita rin ako ng kabandang ganito.”
But Ground Zero is more than viral clips and trophies. Their advocacy is clear: push boundaries, perform fearlessly, and never box yourself in. For them, music is survival. It’s rebellion. It’s life. They believe in exploring every corner of their craft—and in inspiring a generation of musicians to do the same.
Now, the band is preparing to launch their original music, beginning with their highly anticipated debut single, “Heartless Queen.” With plans to release an album and expand their presence nationally, Ground Zero is ready to take their sound from battle arenas to global stages.
